Heartburn and pregnancy go hand in hand because of the hormonal and physiological changes that a pregnant woman undergoes. When a woman is pregnant, her abdomen has more pressure, forcing the acids to go upwards to the esophagus and the throat.

Another reason is because of the increase of hormones in a woman’s body, resulting to the softening of the ligaments which keep the lower esophagus muscles closed. Softened ligaments will result to a relaxed LES, causing gastric juices to come through.

If you are pregnant and you want to avoid heartburn, there are many practical tips to follow. Here are some of them:

1. Avoid smoking. Nicotine is found to weaken the LES, so stop smoking. Moreover, it is not really good for your health and your baby’s.

2. Don’t wear tight clothes and belts. Tight apparels and tight objects around the waist will only add more pressure around the abdomen, pushing the stomach contents upwards.

3. Don’t lie down after eating. Wait for at least two hours before you lie down, to ensure that the stomach acids will stay where they should be.

4. Maintain a healthy weight. Too much weight will only increase more pressure on the stomach, making the acids go to the esophagus.

5. Avoid foods that cause the LES to relax. These include fatty food, tomato-based products, citrus fruits and juices, alcoholic drinks, high fat butter and cream, greasy food and caffeine.

6. You are advised to eat low fat food and more vegetables, since these are the ones that are not heartburn triggers.

If your heartburn persists, you should visit a doctor to help treat your condition.

For more heartburn tips, visit my blog. You should read the book that taught thousands get rid of their condition naturally. It’s in my byline so check it out.

Heartburn pregnancy is one of the most common pregnancy symptoms women experience in the early trimester of the pregnancy. According to medical experts, this heartburn symptom, though, seemingly quite uncomfortable, is considered most common and harmless. Still, if you find this heartburn quite unbearable at times, then get some tips from this article to alleviate its discomforts.

What Causes This Heartburn

The heartburn pregnancy starts stinging from the bottom end of the breastbone to the lower throat. Mainly the drastic hormonal changes that take place in body during pregnancy are to be blamed for this discomforting heartburn symptom. The physical changes in response to the changes in hormonal flow in the body also cause your heart to tingle. There is more than one cause of heartburn in early stage of pregnancy. The placenta or the connecting tissue between mother and the fetus generates progesterone hormone to smoothen the muscle of the uterus. This hormone is secreted also to relax the valve, the organ to separate esophagus from uterus, with gastric acids. The presence of this gastric acid causes pregnant women to experience uncomfortable heartburn.

There is one more function of progesterone hormone that causes heartburn pregnancy. Due to this hormone, the digestion process slows down and the wave of contractions between esophagus and intestine slow down to create a burning sensation in your chest area. The fetus plants itself in your abdominal cavity by shoving the stomach acid towards the esophagus, which is why, pregnant women feel a bit upsetting heartburn. Now that you know what acts as the culprit behind your hurting heartburn sensation, let us find out the ways to reduce the pain.

How To Reduce Intensity Of Heartburn

As slow down of the digestion process leads to expecting mothers to experience heartburn pregnancy, hence they are advised to take care of their diet habits. Reduce consumption of foods that are enriched with spices and are over fried. Cut down on big meals. Divide big meals into several small ones and take them throughout the day. Spend more time eating, make sure you chew your food thoroughly to digest it properly. Stop drinking water during mealtime. Yes, drinking at least eight to ten glasses of water during pregnancy is mandatory to minimize heartburn pregnancy symptom, but at the intervals of meals, not during the meals itself.

There is another way you can try to stabilize your digestion process: that is by chewing gum. Take a chewing gum after eating, as it will spur the salivary glands to defuse the gastric acid that causes heartburn.

Pregnant women are advised not to eat close to their bedtime. Eat two to three hours prior to your bedtime. You may also sleep by elevating your upper body with the support of two pillows. Choose loose clothes to relieve your waist and tummy. Also join a smoking cessation program if you have a habit of smoking. According to doctors, smoking is strictly prohibited for the wellbeing of both baby and mother. Finally take care of your diet by consulting with your physician for advice on diet schedule to keep heartburn pregnancy at bay.

Heartburn relief during pregnancy is a common concern many pregnant women have. Read on to see what you what heartburn remedies during pregnancy are available.

What causes early pregnancy heartburn?

Heartburn in early pregnancy is a common complaint. The hormone progesterone is released as soon a woman becomes pregnant and can cause many early pregnancy symptoms which include pregnancy heartburn. Progesterone causes relaxation of the cardiac sphincter of the stomach which is the muscle between the stomach and the esophagus (food pipe). Relaxation of this muscle allows for some gastric acid and food to flow backwards and re-enter the esophagus (food pipe). Gastric acid irritates the lining of the esophagus causing a burning sensation in the center of the chest called pregnancy heartburn.

As your baby grows bigger and takes up more room in the abdominal area, the stomach itself is displaced and squashed. The growing uterus can permanently press on the cardiac sphincter of the stomach and allow gastric juices and food to constantly leak back into the esophagus (wind pipe) which may cause severe heartburn during pregnancy.

Heartburn remedies during pregnancy

Heartburn relief during pregnancy can be achieved by eating yogurt or drinking a glass of milk.

Try a tablespoon of honey in a glass of warm milk for pregnancy heartburn relief.

Eat smaller more frequent meals throughout the day rather than three large meals.

Avoid spicy, greasy, fatty foods, peppers and tomatoes produce extra gastric acid causing pregnancy heartburn.

Avoid foods that relax the cardiac sphincter of the stomach such as alcohol, peppermint, garlic, and chocolate.

Avoid eating for at least two hours before going to bed.

Do not lie down after eating to prevent the food from the stomach flowing back into your esophagus causing pregnancy heartburn.

Mild over-the-counter antacids such as Mylanta or Tums may prove helpful in relieving heartburn pregnancy symptom.

If your heartburn symptoms are severe or accompanied by headache or swelling (especially if you are later on in pregnancy) consult with your health care provider immediately as you may have pre-eclampsia of pregnancy.

Sleeping with extra pillows under your head to keep your stomach lower than your esophagus (food pipe) works very well to give you a better start to the day and a better nights sleep.

One of the most effective heartburn remedies during pregnancy is to try to prevent heartburn developing in the first place. The healthier you are prior pregnancy and the healthier you eat during pregnancy can have a direct correlation to the amount of pregnancy symptoms you have.

Heartburn is a condition that brings too much pain and discomfort to millions worldwide. If you are a heartburn sufferer yourself, it is common sense to know its causes if you want to effectively avoid it. This article discusses the most frequent heartburn causes and ways how to avoid them.

1. Caffeine

Caffeine causes the lower esophagus muscle, the part that opens when you swallow food, to weaken, thus, allowing stomach contents to travel to the esophagus and irritate it. That’s why it is advised that you avoid food and drinks that have caffeine, like coffee and tea.

2. Chocolate and cocoa

Cocoa, tea and coffee plants contain a compound called theobromine, which can cause the les to weaken.

3. Smoking

Nicotine is another factor that makes the les relax too much. Additionally, it was found that smokers are seventy percent more prone to getting heartburn, and are going to suffer from worse symptoms unlike non-smokers.

4. Obesity

Being overweight adds more pressure to the stomach, which later adds more force to the les to further weaken, making the stomach contents travel and reach the esophagus lining.

5. Tomato products

You should avoid anything that is tomato-based because those products are shown to make the les relax and allow the stomach contents to reach the esophagus.

6. Eating large meals

Eating too much in one sitting will add more force against your abdomen and more force to the refluxed food.

7. Lying down immediately at mealtime

When you eat and lie down, the stomach contents will slide back to the throat, instead of staying in the stomach.

If you want to avoid these main heartburn causes, one of the best things you can do is following the right diet for heartburn. The right diet for you should be free from the foods that cause heartburn, of course. You should not eat fatty and acidic food because they cause the les to weaken. Additionally, you should also avoid any pressure on the stomach because it is another cause to make the les relax too much. These include obesity and wearing tight apparels or belts.

If you want to know more about avoiding heartburn, visit my blog.

And for a natural treatment for acid reflux, I suggest you visit my review on a book that had helped thousands of other acid reflux sufferers cure their condition naturally.

Not sure what that burning in your chest means? Two words that make your day a living nightmare, “Acid Reflux”! You have put up with the misery for maybe months and possibly years and it’s time to do something about it! Acid Reflux or GERD(also called heartburn) affects millions of people each day and might be affecting you! The first step of action is to educate yourself on acid reflux and discover how you might naturally treat your heartburn.

The Cause of Acid Reflux!

There are numerous causes to Acid Reflux but knowing them could possibly allow you to find your problem. It might be a small habit you need to change or a drastic lifestyle make-over. Whatever the cause, it is necessary for you to take it seriously and make the adjustment quickly. The following is a list of causes for Acid Reflux:

1. Too much caffeine (coffee, tea, soda and chocolate) can cause Acid Reflux.

2. Consumption of alcohol (wine or beer) can cause Acid Reflux.

3. Smoking cigarettes can cause Acid Reflux.

4. Eating large meals can cause Acid Reflux.

5. Eating 2-3 hours before bedtime can cause Acid Reflux.

6. High-fat foods (especially fried foods) can cause Acid Reflux.

7. Foods containing tomatoes cause Acid Reflux.

8. Fruits and fruit juices cause Acid Reflux.

9. Tight fitting clothes around mid-section can cause Acid Reflux.

The Symptoms of Acid Reflux!

At its most basic, Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or acid reflux, is a condition where the stomach backs up (refluxes) and the acid within returns to the esophagus. If you are wondering if you suffer from acid reflux, the following are typical symptoms of Acid Reflux:

1.	Heartburn (burning sensation ranging from upper stomach to lower chest)

2.	Regurgitation (food brought back up into mouth)

3.	Slight to Harsh Chest Pains

4.	Difficulty in swallowing

5.	Hoarseness in speaking

6.	Dental erosion from stomach acids in mouth and throat

7.	Asthma and/or cough

A Simple Start to Naturally Treat Acid Reflux!

My name is Bob Barton and I have been naturally cured from Acid Reflux for years! It wasn’t always this easy though. Over 30 years ago, I almost lost my life while on the operating table for stomach surgery caused by stomach acid eating a hole in my esophagus! Thanks to God and a simple apple, I discovered a natural way to treat my acid reflux. And 3 decades later, I haven’t stopped discovering natural remedies for heartburn/acid reflux/GERD! Over the years, my research-based website and reports have helped over a thousand reflux sufferers with a 97% success rate! I have dedicated my life to the business of helping people live acid reflux-free lives. To get you started with naturally treating your Acid Reflux, please follow these Reflux Rules!

Acid Reflux Lifestyle Changes to Make:

1. Stop smoking today! You need to finally make this change for good!

2. Stop drinking alcohol!

3. Exercise! Find a fitness center that works for you. Many fitness centers are open 24 hours a day. If not, go for a walk 15 minutes a day!

4. Eat small meals! You should eat 5 meals a day (not 3 big meals). The meals should be smaller than the size of your fist.

5. Wear loose clothes! You don’t have to look like a clown. Just find something that is not tight on your abdominal region.

6. Avoid lying down for at least 3 hours after a meal. (You might need to get a watch!)

7. Raise the head of your bed 6-8 inches by putting wooden blocks under front bedposts. (This is better than extra pillows)

8. Memorize the causes of acid reflux (above) and make the necessary changes.

Finally, I would recommend taking a look at my website where I explain what changed my life and cured my acid reflux. This cure might work for you and I would love to help with other remedies!

http://www.refluxremedy.com/apple/

Many of us suddenly get a burning sensation that starts in the chest. This condition occurs sometimes just after we have eaten. After our stomachs have digested the food, the stomach juices can sometimes flow into the gullet, or as it is correctly called the esophagus. When that happens the esophagus lining gets irritated and a burning sensation can felt be especially near the heart. This is the main cause of heartburn for most people.

The part of the body that is responsible for heartburn occurring is the Lower Esophageal Sphincter, or LES as it is sometimes called. This valve is responsible for keeping the stomach juices within our stomachs. The intestines of the stomach are capable of dealing with the stomach acids. However if for any reason the LES relaxes then the stomach juices can flow into the esophagus and begin causing heartburn.

The walls or the skin of the esophagus are very thin, therefore the esophagus can get irritated by the acidity of the stomach juices. There are a few factors for the cause of heartburn to occur. Here is a list of what is considered to be some of the top reasons for heartburn.

Coffee, tea, and other drinks that contain caffeine can relax the Lower Esophageal Sphincter, thus allowing the stomach juices to flow into the esophagus. Chocolate contains certain amounts of a substance called theobromine.

This compound is found naturally in many caffeine bearing plants. The theobromine relaxes the LES muscle and causes the stomach acid to shoot up into the esophagus leading to heartburn.

Fried and fatty foods have a tendency to slow down the digestion process. This leads to the food being kept in the stomach for a long time. This results in increased pressure to the stomach. This pressure build-up weakens the LES allowing stomach acid to pass into the esophagus.

Tomatoes and tomato-based products, and alcohol also cause the LES to relax. These foods lead to an increase in the production of more stomach acid. This is another heartburn factor.

The tobacco chemicals in cigarettes weaken the LES, as the chemicals pass from the lungs into your blood.

Eating large amounts of food any time of the day puts extra pressure on your lower esophageal sphincter. Therefore there is a chance that some of this digested food will end up in the esophagus. This is especially true in the night as having a large dinner just before you go to sleep leads to the digesting food to press harder against your LES.

Drinking and eating lots of citrus fruits and juices also causes the LES to become relaxed. This is another cause of heartburn.

The last cause of heartburn, is clothing that restricts your stomach. As the clothes press against the stomach walls they force the food up against the LES.

In short, and keeping it nice and simple, the best way to prevent heartburn is to realize that by changing your lifestyle to avoid many of the factors that are the cause of heartburn, you can have a healthy happy life stretching out ahead of you.

Heartburn occurs when stomach acids well up back into the esophagus, causing pain in the middle of the chest. There is a muscle called the sphincter located at the base of the esophagus which is designed to prevent acids from leaking back from the stomach. If that sphincter does not function well or properly then ‘acid reflux’ occurs and you get that familiar burning sensation at the front of your chest.

There are many things about your diet and lifestyle that can contribute to the problem; the good news is that because diet and lifestyle are a part of the problem, changes to both can bring relief from most symptoms.

Potential Causes of Heartburn

One of the first lifestyle choices that can be a contributing factor is smoking. The chemicals in cigarette smoke actually weaken the sphincter, making it easier for acids to pass back through. If you are a smoker, you may get relief from your heartburn by quitting smoking. Another cause is eating large meals. If you suffer from regular or chronic heartburn, try eating smaller meals more frequently to alleviate that full feeling in your stomach.

Wearing tight fitting clothing, especially around the waist, is another familiar cause of heartburn. Switching to looser fitting clothing should see an improvement.

Finally, eating too close to bedtime will often result in problems while you are sleeping, frequently enough to cause you to wake up with that really uncomfortable chest pain again. Try to eat your last meal of the day at least three hours before retiring – five hours is even better. If you find you are still waking up with the pain, you can raise the head of your bed above the foot by about six inches, so that you are not lying completely flat while you sleep.

If none of these lifestyle changes seem to help relieve the heartburn you are experiencing, it may be time to move on to dietary changes.

Dietary Causes of Heartburn

There are some common causes of heartburn in the average diet that are worth trying to eliminate first to see if that brings relief. For example, fatty and fried foods, caffeine, chocolate and alcohol are amongst many causes of recurring heartburn because they cause the sphincter muscle to relax and will allow stomach acid to return into the esophagus. Other dietary choices best avoided are citrus fruits and juices, and tomato products. If avoiding these doesn’t help, you can try keeping a food diary for several days to see if you can pinpoint which specific foods are causing the problem.

Recurrent heartburn is rarely serious, but it can be difficult to cope with the constant pain. By identifying the causes you can avoid those things in your diet or lifestyle that are contributing to your pain and discomfort.

When you eat at a buffet, do you consume just about all the food you can and worry about acid reflux or heartburn later? I see it all of the time, just about every one I see at a buffet or even a company potluck, loads their plate with more food than they stomach can handle at one time.

The medical industry has brainwashed most people to believe that if you have heartburn or acid reflux, you have too much stomach acid and that this is the cause of heartburn. Then, then they use Tums or some other over the counter remedy to quench their upset stomach. Or if they are seeing a doctor, the doctor will prescribe a acid blocker drug.

The drugs – acid reducers or blockers – that doctors prescribe usually have a negative impact on your health. Your stomach must have an acid pH of 1.5 to 2.5. With acid blockers or reducers, your stomach pH can move to 3.0 and higher – this means less acidic. A pH of 3.0 or higher can lead to many health problems that you won’t relate to your use to these blockers.

Heartburn, acid reflux or GED occurs when the Lower Esophageal Valve, LEV, opens when it shouldn’t. When this happens some stomach acid and digested food slips back into the esophagus. This will give you a burning sensation, since the esophagus lining is not design to be exposed to acidic stomach contents

If you ever get acid reflux or heartburn, the burning sensation, stomach pain, bleaching, and discomfort will make you look for a heartburn treatment. Here is a list of eating patterns that you should follow, if you want to be free of heartburn. Or, if, you just want not to have stomach digestive problems.

Heartburn treatment with digestive enzymes

Just before you eat, take 2 – 3 digestive enzymes to help you digest your food. You don’t want undigested food to stay in your stomach to long or it will decompose, create gas and turn into an acid source. And, if this undigested food gets into your colon, it can create colon cancer, if it occurs over many years.

Heartburn treatment with water

Limit the amount of liquid you drink when you eat. Drinking excess water dilutes your stomach acid and you need its low pH to digest your food. If you do drink liquid, use room temperature water, since cold water slows down your digestive process.

Heartburn treatment – eat less sugar

Limit your consumption of sugar when you eat. Sugar has no nutritional value and causes calcium to go out your urine. In addition, other minerals are used up during its digestion. For sure don’t drink soda or other sweet drinks during your meals.

Heartburn treatment – watch how you eat fruit

After you eat, don’t eat any fruit. Your stomach is busy digesting the food you just ate. Eating fruit will cause the fruit to remain in your stomach to long, waiting to be digested and will start decaying create gas, and will become acidic.

Heartburn treatment by using a good diet

Don’t stuff yourself at the dinner table. When you eat to much food where you combine meat, carbohydrates, sugar, sodas, fats, and processed foods, the food your stomach cannot digest turns into acid. This acid creates gas and can put pressure on a weak LEV causing it to open.

A weak LEV can be cause by eating too much acid food. It can be caused by mixing to many different foods during a meal. A balanced diet, which contains alkaline and acid food keeps your LEV strong and will not open when you occasionally eat more food than you should.

These are just a few heartburn treatments that can help you keep heartburn free. Your stomach needs strong acid to digest your food. Using acid reducers or blockers like Tums or other medication goes against the nature of your stomach. Without an acid stomach, you will become susceptible to a numerous diseases and a weak LEV valve.

Like other conditions, the food you eat everyday can affect how frequent and severe your heartburn can be. Therefore, you should avoid eating foods that cause heartburn, if you want to lessen your heartburn attacks.

Heartburn is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. When it strikes, the sufferer experiences great pain in the chest which spreads to the throat, which lasts for several minutes. The pain is enough to make the sufferer stop what he’s doing at the moment. And what’s worse is that, this condition can happen even at night.

Fortunately, there are many ways how to stop heartburn. Among them is by following the right diet for heartburn every day. There are certain food groups that can worsen your condition, and these are the ones you should not eat. These include: caffeine, chocolate, spices, citrus, oil, butter, fatty food, mayonnaise, alcohol and tomato-based products.

The foods that cause heartburn are either those that make one’s digestive system work harder, causing the body to release more acids, or those that cause the lower esophageal sphincter to relax.

But there are certain foods which are safe to eat for heartburn sufferers. These are generally low in fat and are much easier to digest. These include: carbohydrate-rich food, those that are low in fat, steamed vegetables, baked potatoes, and fruits like apples.

But of course, you should not only mind the food you eat everyday if you want to avoid heartburn. Some other preventive measures to follow include:

- Wearing loose clothing.

- Staying away from things that contain nicotine, like alcohol and cigarettes

- Raising the head of your bed by six to eight inches

- Eating small meals every day

- Maintaining a reasonable weight

There are many other foods that cause heartburn.
