So, I get heartburn not very badly, but a bit more frequently. I have been staying away from Spicy stuff, potatoes, and the like, but I still get a bit of heartburn every now and then. I am going to talk to my doctor about it, but in the meantime are there any remedies one might recommend? Thanks your answers are much appreciated.

Well to stop it once you have it, drinking milk. It calms it down.

Hi! I wrote a short article on eHow , on fighting heartburn. If you have the time , you might want to check it out! Like the other answers said, don’t use milk! This will cause your stomach to produce more acid, to break down and digest the milk.

My husband has used two things. One is baking soda, most people have it in the kitchen, Arm and Hammer. Directions are on the box, mix a teaspoon with a cup of water and drink. The other is club soda, carbonated water. Milk can actually sour in the stomach, not the best idea.

i have the same problem. the one thing i do is stay away from things like sodas, coffee, tea, and spicy foods. there is also anti- acid tablets that you can take that are safe., talk to your pharmacist

I wouldn’t recommend milk, because that can cause the stomach to produce more acid. I use baking soda, personally, and avoid lying down flat.

Put a tablespoon of baking soda in a small glass of water, mix and drink fast. Helps me a lot. Makes you burp a little.
