One of the worst things in life is not being able to enjoy the things you love. If you suffer from heartburn or its more serious form acid reflux disease then you understand what it is like. You also know what it is like to have to take pills, before, during, perhaps even after meals to prevent symptoms. As soon as you stop taking those pills, the symptoms come back. There are however, other solutions, natural remedies and things you can do to prevent, or relieve symptoms quickly and without having to take medication.

What is Acid reflux disease and heartburn?

What causes heartburn are usually factors such as stress, over eating, eating certain foods or a combination along with smoking, caffeine, citrus fruits and drinks, tomato products, fatty or spicy foods. Heartburn symptoms are a mild or intense burning in the chest along with a sour or bitter taste in the mouth and throat. Acid reflux disease is a continuation of this involving the contents of the stomach reaching the throat and not completely returning to the stomach. These actions can cause the erosion of the lining in the throat.

Sounds just about as bad as it feels, luckily there are some ways you can help prevent and relieve your heartburn and acid reflux symptoms. There are quite a number of them out there so experimenting with each until you find the one that works best for you might be necessary.

Here are some of the natural remedies to relieve heartburn symptoms, raw almonds it is important to make sure these are no salt added and they are not roasted, 4-5 of them should relieve your symptoms.

Aloe Vera juice made from the aloe Vera plant has very soothing properties. It works well as a treatment for heartburn.

If you are allergic to nuts, or do not find Aloe Vera works for you try eating acid neutralizing foods with your meal or right after as natural remedies for heartburn. These foods are apples, carrots, and potatoes. The important thing with these is to eat them raw.

Other options include eating an acid reflux diet, which is devoid of foods, which might cause acid reflux symptoms. Other natural cures for acid reflux include either vinegar distilled white or apple cider. Apple cider probably has the better taste. It does burn going down and if you have other stomach problems this may not be right for you. You can also try milk; this works well for infant acid reflux or brown sugar.

To prevent heartburn and acid reflux before it even starts, make sure to avoid large amounts of foods that you know create the symptoms for you. You do not have to eliminate them, simply reduce the amount you intake.

It is easy to prevent and relieve heartburn and acid reflux symptoms naturally.

Acid reflux symptoms are often misread, or thought to be something else. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is another name for acid reflux. GERD is are result of the acid in the stomach backing up and causing irritation and inflammation in the esophagus. Acid reflux symptoms can seem like a heart attack, asthma attack, or other more serious complication. Many unnecessary hospital visits are a result of people misdiagnosing symptoms of GERD.

Heartburn

The most common acid reflux symptom is heartburn. Heartburn is named because it feels like your chest is burning. Heartburn can also be felt in the area of the neck and throat. Somebody who has never experienced heart disease can feel as if they are experiencing a heart attack. Heartburn can be very painful but relief can typically be found with antacids and light exercise. It is always better to be safe. If you are unsure if the burning in your chest is heartburn it is best to seek medical attention.

Coughing and Wheezing

Coughing and wheezing that is caused by GERD can be mistaken for asthma or bronchitis. When these symptoms are caused by acid reflux it is because the acid in the stomach is forced into and partially block the airways. This can cause the feeling of being short of breath or the need to cough to force the acid out. Many people pass these acid reflux symptoms off as being caused by smoking. While smoking can certainly cause similar symptoms, they are usually more persistent and don’t resolve themselves. These symptoms can be a sign of underlying conditions, even if they go away and come back later. They should be discussed with a physician.

Children with Acid Reflux Symptoms

Acid reflux disease can cause some symptoms in children that will seem flu-like. Children can experience vomiting and coughing, along with other respiratory symptoms. Vomiting can happen because a child is small and the acid being forced up has nowhere to go but out. Excessive vomiting should be taken seriously as this could cause dehydration in children. Be sure to let your pediatrician know exactly what is going on if your child exhibits symptoms of GERD. It is a good idea to keep a journal of what your child consumes, activities, and symptoms to determine if there is a correlation between them. Finding the trigger of a child’s acid reflux symptoms will make treatment much easier.

Older Adults with GERD

GERD in older adults can cause symptoms that make them feel as if they are choking. This can be especially frightening for an older person because they may not have the strength to cough it up or there might be nobody around to ask for help. Lying down or bending can worsen these symptoms. There are prescription medications that can be helpful to people who experience this.

Acid reflux symptoms can be caused by other medical problems and should never be ignored. Often a treatment plan that includes lifestyle changes can be most beneficial. If you are experiencing trouble with reflux try to cut out foods that may be the source of your symptoms. Quit smoking and stay away from alcohol as these can be major contributors to symptoms of GERD. As always, work with your physician to find the best treatment for acid reflux symptoms.

Before we learn about the acid reflux cures, or about the natural heartburn remedies, we need to understand what acid reflux means and how exactly it is caused. Well, the food that we consume travels from our mouth to our stomach via the food pipe or the esophagus. The peristaltic movement of the muscles in the alimentary canal, allow the movement of the bolus only in one direction, that is, from the mouth towards the intestine, and finally the anus. The movement of the bolus from the esophagus to the stomach is controlled by a ring of muscle known as the ‘Lower Esophageal Sphincter Muscle’, which is present just at the juncture of the esophagus and the stomach. It usually allows the food to pass only one way from the mouth to the stomach. Its main function is to prevent the contents of the stomach to travel back into the food pipe, and thereby aid in the digestion process. However, sometimes, due to a spicy and fatty diet, or due to a poor lifestyle (late night dinner, just before going to bed; a very heavy and stuffing dinner; alcohol consumption, too many chocolates, obesity, very little water intake, etc), the lower esophageal sphincter muscle gets weakened and the stomach contents tend to leak back into the esophagus. When the contents of the stomach (and the digestive juices that are present in the stomach), leak back or get refluxed into the esophagus, then it is known as acid reflux or GERD, which results in a painful burning sensation in the esophageal area and even in the throat. This painfulness or burning sensation that arises in the chest, right at the back of the sternum, is known as ‘heartburn’.

With so many different types of acid reflux medicines available for treating heartburn and acid reflux symptoms, people often get confused while selecting the best acid reflux medicines, which can provide them with the most reliable and effective acid reflux cures. Moreover, prolonged use of these medicines, as in the case of chronic acid reflux patients is dangerous. For instance, prolonged use of antacids can lead to the formation of stones in the kidneys. So, it becomes even more difficult for people suffering from chronic acid reflux problem to identify and stick on with such a treatment option, which is not only safe (even on prolonged use), but is also capable of curing the root cause of the problem.

In fact, there are several different treatment options available, for people suffering from acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including lifestyle modifications, non-prescription over the counter medicines for heartburn, acid reflux medication (which is duly prescribed by a doctor), home remedies and natural remedies for acid reflux as well as surgery (in such chronic cases, where there is hardly any relief from heartburn, inspite of prolonged period of appropriate medications).

There are several natural heartburn remedies which are highly effective in curing heartburn symptoms. Some of these natural acid reflux cures include – the use of aloe vera for acid reflux. This practice is scientifically supported because of the natural curative properties of aloe vera, which helps sooth your heartburn and also cure your acid reflux problem completely. Just drink a quarter cup of aloe vera juice a few minutes before your meal and experience the soothing effect it has on your mucous membrane. The aloe vera juice is capable of relieving the symptoms of acid reflux as well as healing ulcerations in the esophagus, which develop as a result of frequent episodes of reflux of digestive acids into the esophagus. The use of aloe vera for acid reflux has become even more popular owing to the fact that aloe vera also improves the functionality of the lower esophageal sphincter muscle and helps cure the root cause of the acid reflux disease.

Natural heartburn cures include another excellent option – taking apple cider vinegar, which mimics the digestive acids in the stomach, and thus, promotes easier digestion of the food, thereby preventing chances of acid reflux. Similarly, eating raw almonds and raw apple is considered to be highly effective acid reflux cures. Similarly, acid reflux herbs such as fennel tea, one table spoon of mustard, papaya enzymes, licking ginger juice mixed with honey, and several other natural heartburn remedies are also equally helpful in controlling heartburn.

Herbs have been used for centuries for medicinal purposes, and many herbs have proven to be very successful in relieving and healing many health conditions, especially health issues that involve the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, there are a number of herbs that can be helpful to GERD sufferers in providing natural heartburn relief treatments.

The following is information regarding six different herbs that can be used to for acid reflux relief and other related digestive conditions. The information provided will explain how these herbs may help to subdue acid reflux symptoms when taken orally, as well as if there are any warnings you should be aware of before you consider taking any of these natural remedies:

Chamomile (alternative names: Genuine chamomile, Anthemis nobilis, German Chamomile, Hungarian chamomile, Roman Chamomile, Matricaria chamomilla, Goberneradora)

Chamomile has been used for centuries for its sedative and antispasmodic effects. When taken orally, chamomile can induce relaxation and has a calming effect, which has also led some to believe that it has anti-anxiety effects. Nevertheless, despite its possible anti-anxiety effects, chamomile also appears to be antispasmodic which might be linked to one of its chemicals, bisabolol. The antispasmodic properties make it gentle and soothing to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and may be beneficial at relieving minor GI symptoms including: gas, nausea, and stomach cramps

Furthermore, chamomile has also been found to provide soothing relief to irritated tissues in the nose, throat, and mouth, which can be beneficial to those who experience acid reflux in the throat.

Other studies suggest that chamomile may also have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral effects, all of which could benefit GERD sufferers who have inflammation within their esophagus (esophagitis). However, no study has yet successfully proved this theory.

Side effects- Vomiting can occur if very high doses of chamomile are ingested. Chamomile can also cause allergic reactions in individuals who are allergic to daisies, as chamomile is part of the daisy family.

Drug interactions and other precautions- Chamomile may interfere with the blood’s ability to clot and may cause drowsiness. Therefore there is the possibility that it might interact with the following medications and herbs:

- Anticoagulants and antiplatelets

- Drugs that promote sleepiness

- Sedative herbs (I.E. saw palmetto, ginger, danshen, devil’s claw, garlic, gingko, papain, red clover, etc.)

- Herbs that effect blood clotting (I.E. hops, kava, valerian, catnip, and st. john’s wort, etc.)

You should refrain from taking chamomile if you are pregnant because its antispasmodic effects could cause the uterus to relax, which could potentially lead to miscarriage.

Dandelion root (alternative names: Irish Daisy, Blowball, Leotodon taraxacum, Taraxacum officinale, Canker Wort, Lion’s Tooth, Puffball, Wild Endive)

Dandelion root has been used orally for years to treat various health problems including arthritis, gout, diabetes, cancer, liver problems, and heartburn. Dandelion has also been used to combat indigestion because its bitter flavor encourages the production of saliva which can be beneficial to GERD sufferers, as saliva helps to neutralize acid. In addition, it is believed that dandelion root may have some anti-inflammatory effects.

Side effects – Although unlikely if side effects are felt an upset stomach would be the most likely side effect of dandelion root.

Drug interactions and other precautions- Dandelion may have an effect on blood sugar, work as a diuretic, and increase acid production. Therefore it may interact with the following medications:

- Diabetes medications for lowering blood sugar

- Diuretic drugs

- Acid blocking medications such as antacids, H2 receptors, and proton pump inhibitors.

Individuals who should avoid taking dandelion root are those who are prone to or have gallstones or other problems with their gallbladder. Dandelion can irritate the gallbladder by increasing bile production. People with diabetes should also avoid taking this herb as it may affect their blood sugar levels.

It is important to note that not everyone who suffers from acid reflux and GERD can take dandelion root to treat their symptoms because there is a risk that this herb will increase stomach acid production, which can cause symptoms to become more frequent or worsen. Furthermore, if you have stomach ulcers or gastritis (stomach inflammation) you should not take dandelion root.

Meadowsweet (alternative names: Queen of the Meadow, Bridewort, Filipendula ulmaria, Dropwort, Lady of the Meadow, Spirea ulmaria, Spirea)

Meadowsweet can be used to help treat stomach problems such as diarrhea, nausea, heartburn, hyperacidity, gastritis, and peptic ulcers. However, the effectiveness meadowsweet has on these GI conditions is unknown. Meadowsweet also contains a mild degree of anti-inflammatory properties and may be beneficial for individuals who suffer from gout or other inflammatory conditions.

Aside from assisting in the relief of stomach issues, meadowsweet has also often been used to provide slight relief from symptoms caused by respiratory conditions such as congestion, fever and pain related to colds and similar ailments.

Side effects – Meadowsweet can cause constriction to occur in the muscles of the small airways of the lungs, known as a bronchospasm. This side effect could worsen asthma or trigger asthma attacks. Another side effect that has been reported by some individuals who take meadowsweet is nausea.

Drug interactions and other precautions – Meadowsweet could increase the risk of side effects in Narcotic analgesics (I.E. morphine), and may affect the blood’s ability to clot and interact with medications and herbal remedies such as:

- Anticoagulants and antiplatelets

- Aspirin

- Herbs that effect blood clotting (see chamomile above)

Pregnant women, individuals with asthma, and those who have allergies to aspirin should avoid taking meadowsweet.

Cats claw (alternative names: Uncaria guianensis, Peruvian Cat’s Claw, Uña de Gato, Samento, Saventaro, Uncaria tomentosa)

Cats claw is comprised of many active chemicals and substances that are beneficial to the immune system. Due to its antioxidant, anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties, this makes it extremely beneficial for treating individuals who suffer from various health conditions.

Cats claw has also been used to help individuals who suffer from gastrointestinal problems find relief for conditions including gastritis, and gastric ulcers.

Side effects – Some side effects that have been reported include stomach discomfort, nausea, headache, and dizziness. You should not take cats claw if you are allergic to plants in the Rubiaceae or Uncaria family.

Drug interactions and other precautions- Cats claw has the potential to enhance a person’s immune function which could cause it to interact with drugs designed to suppress the immune system.

Cats claw was traditionally used as a form of contraception, and when taken in high doses may prevent pregnancy. Therefore, it should not be taken by women trying to become pregnant, pregnant women, or women who are breast feeding.

Individuals who have had organ transplants should not take cats claw due to the potential effects it can have on the immune system. In addition, it may cause unpredictable results in those who suffer from autoimmune disorders such as Crohn’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

Licorice (alternative names: Gan Cao, Sweet Root, Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Licorice contains a substance known as glycyrrhizin which reduces the activity of two particular enzymes that contribute to the removal of PGE (prostaglandin E) from the body. Stomach conditions including gastritis, colic, and ulcers are associated with low levels of PGE. Therefore, licorice can actually increase the levels of PGE and allow more PGE to circulate through the body. The increase of PGE can reduce the production of stomach acid and promote the production of stomach mucus. Thus, licorice is often used to treat ulcers and many other stomach problems.

In addition to stomach conditions, licorice has also been found to be beneficial for treating respiratory conditions such as bronchitis, as well as for suppressing coughs, soothing sore throats, and has the potential to boost immune system function.

Note: the Licorice that is being referred to is the herb and not licorice candy. Licorice candy does not typically contain much of the active chemical present in the true herb, and, therefore, is not likely to provide the same positive or negative side effects.

Side effects – There are many side effects associated with licorice, but the severity of these side effects differ depending on how much licorice is ingested. The more common and less severe side effects of licorice when a single recommended dose is taken for longer than six weeks may include: headache, fatigue, muscle spasms, increased blood pressure and swelling.

Large doses of licorice may cause a condition called pseudoaldosteronism, which causes the following symptoms: excessive thirst, increased urination, high blood pressure, muscle weakness, low potassium levels, weight gain.

Drug interactions and other precautions- Licorice can increase the time required in order for blood to clot, can cause possible potassium deficiency, can interfere with medications used to suppress tissue inflammation, and mimic the female hormone estrogen. Therefore, licorice can interact with the following medications and natural remedies:

- Anticoagulants and antiplatelets

- Corticosteroid drugs (drugs that treat inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, etc.)

- Diuretics (“water pills that can cause potassium loss)

- Estrogen replacement therapy or oral contraceptives

- Testosterone therapy

- Aspirin

- Laxatives (can promote loss of potassium)

- Herbs that effect blood clotting (see chamomile)

- Herbs that deplete potassium (I.E. aloe, senna, rhamnus frangula, rhamnus purshiana, rhamnus cathartica)

Pregnant women and women who are breast feeding should not take licorice, as it may increase the risk of premature labor or miscarriage. Other individuals who should avoid taking licorice include:

- Men with prostate cancer

- Women who suffer from uterine fibroids, endometriosis, cancer of the breast, ovaries, or uterus.

- Individuals with congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, liver condition or kidney disease.

Slippery elm (alternative names: Elm, American Elm, Japanese Elm, Indian Elm, Red Elm, Sweet Elm, Moose Elm, Ulmus rubra, Ulmus fulva, Winged Elm)

Slippery elm is recognized for having significant mucilage, a substance that swells and becomes slippery without dissolving in fluids. Mucilage is believed to help people find relief from coughs, and a variety of other symptoms involving the respiratory system. Furthermore, mucilage is also recognized for its positive effects on the GI tact, and it antioxidant effects that have the potential to decrease intestinal inflammation.

Slippery elm provides the mouth, esophagus, and GI tract with a coating. The slick residue it leaves in the GI tract can help alleviate sore throats; pain associated with stomach ulcers or colic; and can also help relieve inflammatory bowel symptoms. Additionally, slippery elm may encourage mucous production in the GI tract, which helps to protect the stomach and intestinal linings.

Side effects – When taken orally, slippery elm has no reported side effects. However, it may cause an allergic reaction in sensitive people when slippery elm products are touched, or pollen from the tree is breathed in.

Drug interactions and other precautions- There are no known interactions between slippery elm and medications or other herbal products. Nevertheless, due to the fact that the mucilage may coat the stomach and intestines, the mucilage could potentially delay or block the absorption of nutrients or drugs. Therefore, it is recommended that slippery elm be taken orally a minimum of 2 hours before eating or ingesting medications.

Pregnant women should not take slippery elm.

What you should know before taking any herbal products: You should not take any herbal remedy to treat your acid reflux or GERD symptoms without first consulting your health care provider. This is especially important if you are pregnant, breast feeding, or have another health condition and are taking medications. Furthermore, you must ensure that you take herbs according to the recommended dosage prescribed by a professional or as noted on the product information label on the herbal packaging.

Remember to speak to your doctor should you have any questions or concerns, and immediately stop taking any herbs should you experience an allergic reaction. Allergic reaction symptoms include:

- Skin: redness, rash, itching, or hives

- Eyes: red watery or itchy

- Nose: blocked, runny or sneezing

- Lungs: tightness in chest, wheezing, coughing, difficulty breathing

- Stomach: nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

- Swelling: face, tongue or throat.

Contact your doctor or pharmacist should you experience an allergic reaction or any other side effect to any natural heartburn relief treatment.

Infant acid reflux is quite common. People of all ages, especially infants because they consume only liquids or soft foods, suffer from mild heartburn or acidic regurgitation on occasion. As in adult cases, infants experience acid reflux when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is relaxed.

The LES acts as a valve between the esophagus and the stomach. It opens up to allow food into the stomach and then closes in order to protect the esophagus and other organs from acidic reflux. Unfortunately, it is difficult to determine if an infant has developed a chronic form of heartburn called gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD.

In order to determine if an infant has a chronic form of heartburn (GERD) you should consult your pediatrician. Look for clues such as sleeping problems, coughing, weight loss, lack of appetite, spitting up frequently, and apnea. Acid reflux disease can cause respiratory problems including pneumonia, strictures and ulcerations on the esophageal wall, and malnourishment. Infant acid reflux symptoms usually include recurrent coughing, bad breath, spitting up frequently, unusual irritability and crying, chest pain, and sore throat.

There are several causes of acid reflux in infants. Many of the causes are exacerbated by the fact that infants, much more so than adults, consume mostly liquids and spend a great deal of time on their backs or in a supine position. Combined with the backwash potential of liquids, lying down puts pressure on the LES (esophagus valve) and increases the chances for reflux. Other causes could be attributed to the anatomy of a child’s stomach position, poor eating habits, smoking (second hand), being overweight, and food allergies.

In addition to GERD, infants can be diagnosed with a functional version of acid reflux. This condition can be improved with simple modifications such as changing eating habits, keeping the child upright after eating, and encouragement. GERD, or the chronic disease, requires medical treatment by a physician, prescription drug therapy, as well as lifestyle changes.

If you are looking for information about acid reflux symptoms, you will find the below related article very helpful. It provides a refreshing perspective that is much related to acid reflux symptoms and in some manner related to children heartburn, gerd nausea, gastric reflux diet or acid help reflux. It isn’t the same old kind of information that you will find elsewhere on the Internet relating to acid reflux symptoms.

Acid reflux is a chronic illness that is caused by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents in the esophagus. This illness has become more common in recent years. Many studies have shown it is caused by our modern eating lifestyle. For example, drinking too much coffee and alcohol. Having heavy meals before sleeping can also cause acid reflux. Acid reflux is also known as Gastroesphageal reflux disease or GERD.

According to Ayurveda, acid reflux is caused due to improper functioning of the sub – category of Pitta dosha called Pachaka. Due to acid reflux disease, the muscular valve becomes weak and allows stomach acid to flow up the esophagus. It was quite a scare but at least now with better understanding as to acid reflux causes and triggers, he is much more able to keep his condition under control.

As previously mentioned, a small number of acid reflux babies have more severe symptoms of acid reflux. Acid reflux babies with severe acid reflux symptoms tend to be smaller than normal babies since they are unable to get the proper nutrition they need. These acid reflux babies have problems with feeding because of the pain they experience and blood loss from the acid in the esophagus. Some acid reflux babies even experience breathing problems. If you notice any of these symptoms in your baby, contact your pediatrician right away. You need to start treatment to stop any further damage from happening.

If as related to acid reflux symptoms as this article is and it still doesn’t answer all your needs, then don’t forget that you can conduct more search on any of the major search engines like Google dot com to get more helpful acid reflux symptoms information.

Acid reflux is not just a painful condition; it can also have you feeling as if you can’t enjoy the foods you like without painful consequences. It may seem that each time you eat you need to arm yourself with plenty of over the counter medications to counteract the effects of acid reflux. Acid reflux syndrome will affect your job performance and your relationship with others. Many people think they just have a more severe form of heartburn or indigestion.

Following a well laid out acid reflux food plan would be more beneficial than taking antacids every day. Antacids reduce the level of acids in the stomach and actually prevent the natural process of digestion since antacids work by getting id of the acids needed for breaking down food. Thus, taking antacids can actually be harmful to the digestive system. Lack of acid causes more problems such as improper digestion of food and making the acid reflux sufferer more susceptible to other digestive related problems.

The fast food fad that is rapidly gaining importance in the urban dietary patterns is one major cause of acid reflux. As with so many health problems, both ulcers and acid reflux can often be prevented through healthy diet and exercise. Therefore, basically if the LES would do its job and keep the valve open when it’s supposed to be open and closed when it’s supposed to be closed then acid reflux disease would really be a thing of the past.

It was intriguing to find that many people, oblivious of their background, found this article related to acid reflux symptoms and other acid reflux ulcer, acid natural reflux remedy, and even of acid reflux babies helpful and information rich.

If you’re suffering from heartburn symptoms, acid reflux disease or even GERD, you’re in very good company. It’s estimated that between 21 and 40% of us suffer with some form of this painful digestive complaint.

Permanently Cure Your Acid Reflux Click here

The good news is that with a few simple lifestyle changes you can start to overcome your acid reflux symptoms. A lot of it is down to diet, so by following something known as a gerd diet for a while (how long will depend on how severe your condition is) and trying to avoid acid reflux foods, you’ll start to feel the benefits pretty much immediately.

With so many people having heartburn from time to time, it’s obvious that most cases can’t be caused by serious structural problems in the esophagus, diaphragm or stomach. Only a minority of sufferers have, for example, a hiatus hernia to explain their symptoms.

Permanently Cure Your Acid Reflux Click here

In the vast majority of cases the cause of acid reflux seems to be periods during which the gastro esophageal sphincter muscles relax, allowing upward flow of gastric juices into the lower third of the esophagus. More than half of all those who have heartburn so often and so severely that they are referred by their doctor to a gastroenterology centre have no abnormality on their endoscopy. Their mucosa looks normal. They are the people who are diagnosed as having endoscopy negative GERD.

Being given this diagnosis is in no way to belittle acid reflux disease or the effect they may be having on your life. The heartburn and other symptoms of GERD are certainly bad enough, even in people with endoscopy-negative results, to make life a misery. They are just as debilitating as, say, coronary heart disease. GERD is painful, can cause considerable mental stress and interfere badly with your social life.

The symptoms are all caused by the exposure of the esophagus to the acid and pepsin from the stomach, and some people’s esophageal linings may be more sensitive to them than others. So, being endoscopy-negative simply means that, happily for you, the reflux has not yet damaged the cells of your esophagus, and that you can prevent further damage and certainly ease the symptoms with some form of medication or a natural acid reflux remedy.

It doesn’t mean that you don’t need to have the full treatment to help relieve the pain. It also means that most people with GERD do not need tests and complex investigations: they are reserved for the minority who do not respond to initial treatment, or whose GERD is so severe that the doctor expects some complication and considers that you are at extra risk.

Success Stories:Click here

Many of us suffer from symptoms of acid reflux and have tried over the counter antacids and medications with little or no relief. Doctors are just going to give us prescriptions for expensive medications, which might work but they are costly and some people just can’t afford them, so they continue to suffer. The good news is that relief could be as close as making some simple changes to your diet. There are foods that cause acid reflux, and if you are eating these foods on a regular basis, then avoiding them may be all that’s needed to take care of your acid reflux.

The following is a list of common foods that cause acid reflux symptoms in many people. Take a look at this list and see if there are foods on it that you eat on a regular basis and try some alternatives to see if these help reduce your acid reflux symptoms.

High Fat Foods

Dairy foods that are high in fat such as whole milks, cottage cheeses, and many other high fat cheeses can be an almost instant trigger for acid reflux. Try using non fat milk and low fat cottage cheese. Some processed cheese foods are low in fat and taste almost as good as their real cheese counterparts. Check the labels.

High fat meats like marbled steaks and other cuts of beef, ground beef, dark chicken and turkey meat and their skins can all be foods that cause acid reflux in you. Alternatively, you can find cuts of beef that are less marbled and closely trimmed, ground sirloin is typically lower in fat, and boneless, skinless chicken and turkey breasts are a wonderful and healthy alternative.

Fried foods, especially those found at any fast food restaurant, are also foods that cause acid reflux in most people. Try finding foods that are fried in lower fat oils like peanut oil. They still may cause some discomfort, but it is possible that they won’t cause as much discomfort as the others.

Fruits and Veggies

Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and grapefruits and their juices can irritate the esophagus and cause symptoms of acid reflux. Try fruits like apples and apple juice, which have been known to actually relieve heartburn.

Onions have been known to cause acid reflux, especially when eaten raw. If you love the taste of onion but they cause you pain, try using onion powder as an alternative.

Tomatoes are full of acid and should be avoided. This also includes products made from tomatoes like sauces, salsa, and condiments. There really is no alternative for tomatoes, but some other condiments and vegetables could replace them and still be satisfying.

Beverages

Coffee, both caffeinated and decaffeinated, can trigger acid reflux in many people and should be avoided. Try a cold glass of apple cider and 20 minutes on the treadmill for a morning pick-me-up.

Sodas and other carbonated drinks can cause symptoms of acid reflux. Water is the best alternative to soda, especially on hot summer days.

Alcohol, especially beer, can be damaging to the esophagus and cause acid reflux. This is where a lifestyle change may be necessary. When you go out volunteer to be the designated driver and have fun watching everybody else act like drunken idiots. You’re likely to win at darts more often this way, too.

There are other foods that cause acid reflux symptoms, too. The best way to figure out what is causing your acid reflux is to keep a journal and then avoid the foods that you find are your triggers. If this doesn’t help, then a trip to the doctor to discuss your acid reflux is recommended.

Is there really a heartburn reflux remedy that works better than antacids? Yes, and it actually cures your acid reflux permanently by healing two things, your esophagus and lower esophageal sphincter.

And how can you get rid of heart burn naturally? By using a variety of therapies that include your diet, some lifestyle habits, some herbs and some simple remedies which all work to regrow tissue on the esophagus and strengthen the sphincter.

The Problem with Antacids

We’ve all used them… antacids! The problem behind antacids is they can cause calcium-based kidney stones, constant diarrhea, low blood pressure, breathing problems and even osteomalacia (bones becoming very brittle). And if you do not believe me, next time you purchase a box of antacids, look on the warning label.

The antacids, Zantac, Prilosec, Pipcid AC and Tagamet all have warnings that say, “Do NOT take for more than 14 days.” The problem occurs when most people ignore the warning because acid reflux symptoms continue to persist. In fact, millions of sufferers report more serious symptoms because of overuse of antacids.

Is there a better option than antacids? Would you consider a heartburn reflux remedy?

5 Ways to Get Rid of Heart Burn Naturally

Socrates said, ‘Let food be your medicine, and medicine be your food.’ And this is the idea behind natural health. Because natural health centers on giving the body the tools to cure the problem.

In the case of acid reflux, here are 5 ways to get rid of heartburn naturally by healing the esophagus and sphincter.

1. An Apple- Though there is a little research behind this remedy, this remedy has worked wonders for thousands of our customers. In fact, this remedy is the reason why my dad cured his acid reflux naturally. We recommend carrying a slice of apple in a baggie just in case of a flare-up.

2. Honey- If you love honey you are going to love this! Honey has been labeled a ‘miracle cure’ by many and has even been documented as a cure 3,000 years ago. A tablespoon of honey is all you need, twice a day. Honey has been reported to stimulate the regrowth of tissue which is just what the esophagus and sphincter need.

3. Your Diet- There are things you should eat and there are foods you should avoid! Your esophagus and sphincter are damaged if you have consistent acid reflux. And foods can either heal or hinder your heartburn.

Here are some quick rules of thumb: avoid spicy and acidic foods, limit coffee, cut back on smoking, and consume softer foods if possible.

4. Water- You should make it a habit to drink a glass of water after every meal. This will keep the sphincter clean which creates a tight seal on the stomach. Therefore, the gases and stomach acids will stay in the stomach and not travel up to the esophagus.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar- Yuck! But it works in most cases! By drinking an ounce of apple cider vinegar, you can actually increase the acids in your stomach. The acids will be able to digest your food more quickly and this will keep food and stomach acid where it should be… your stomach. Adding honey and acid cider vinegar is also a helpful taste tip!

Curing Heartburn in 24 Hours or Less

If you are serious about saying ‘good bye’ to your acid reflux forever, take a moment and visit our Heartburn Reflux Remedy Website.
