Heartburn and pregnancy go hand in hand because of the hormonal and physiological changes that a pregnant woman undergoes. When a woman is pregnant, her abdomen has more pressure, forcing the acids to go upwards to the esophagus and the throat.

Another reason is because of the increase of hormones in a woman’s body, resulting to the softening of the ligaments which keep the lower esophagus muscles closed. Softened ligaments will result to a relaxed LES, causing gastric juices to come through.

If you are pregnant and you want to avoid heartburn, there are many practical tips to follow. Here are some of them:

1. Avoid smoking. Nicotine is found to weaken the LES, so stop smoking. Moreover, it is not really good for your health and your baby’s.

2. Don’t wear tight clothes and belts. Tight apparels and tight objects around the waist will only add more pressure around the abdomen, pushing the stomach contents upwards.

3. Don’t lie down after eating. Wait for at least two hours before you lie down, to ensure that the stomach acids will stay where they should be.

4. Maintain a healthy weight. Too much weight will only increase more pressure on the stomach, making the acids go to the esophagus.

5. Avoid foods that cause the LES to relax. These include fatty food, tomato-based products, citrus fruits and juices, alcoholic drinks, high fat butter and cream, greasy food and caffeine.

6. You are advised to eat low fat food and more vegetables, since these are the ones that are not heartburn triggers.

If your heartburn persists, you should visit a doctor to help treat your condition.

For more heartburn tips, visit my blog. You should read the book that taught thousands get rid of their condition naturally. It’s in my byline so check it out.

When you are 31 weeks pregnant, you are into your last trimester of the pregnancy. While your body has already undergone tremendous changes, there are still changes yet to come. At this time you are starting to get impatient waiting for the baby to arrive. You may also experience moments of anxiety wondering about the baby ?if it is going to be healthy, if you have everything you need for the baby arrival and if you are going to be a good mother. These are normal emotions and thoughts that all expectant mothers have, so you shouldn be concerned. You may also start feeling apprehensive about the impending labour and birth.

During this time your baby needs more oxygen as the lungs are starting to develop and the baby is starting to breathe on its own. This means you need more iron from your food. Your diet should include a lot of dark green, leafy vegetables, dried fruits and nuts and lean, red meat. Drinking lots of water is also essential so that your organs have the fluids they need to function properly. When you drink at least eight glasses of water each day it will help to decrease the amount of fluid you retain. This is especially important if you notice that your hands and feet are swelling. The water will help to build new cells in your body and in the baby and improve the blood flow.

Because your belly is expanding, you may be feeling uncomfortable when you lie down at night or just to take a nap during the day. If you have a body pillow that you can wrap yourself around, this tends to reduce your discomfort. Don drink a lot of fluids just before bedtime because this will cause you to have to go to the bathroom several times during the night. You should also avoid caffeinated drinks that may keep you awake or cause you to have heartburn.

Your baby is starting to grow rapidly at this time and the internal organs are really starting to develop. You will experience more and more kicks and a lot of movement. At this time of the pregnancy, the baby usually weighs a little over three pounds and measures about fourteen inches long.

If you were to have a 3D ultrasound at this time, you would really be able to see the facial features of the baby and see it kicking its legs. The baby will likely be sucking its thumb. If you want to know whether you are having a boy or girl, this is the time when you can really see the sex organs on an ultrasound and know without a doubt the preparations you need to make for the clothing and the nursery.

It is important for you to get lots of rest and stay off your feet whenever possible. Morning sickness has passed and you have a renewed interest in going out with friends. However, you still have to watch what you eat so that you don have indigestion problems. The growing baby is putting more pressure on your kidneys and growing back. This means you may have backache and still have to make frequent trips to the bathroom.

While pregnancy can be a very exciting time for you, full of anticipation and planning, it sometimes seems that your body is just not cooperating, and seems to cause trouble at every turn. It is unfortunate, but just about every pregnant woman will experience a variety of uncomfortable changes in her body. On the bright side, you are not alone in this, and the fact that many of these complaints are so common means that there is probably a remedy that works for you.

One of the more common problems you will face as a pregnant woman is stomach discomfort during pregnancy, generally speaking. During pregnancy, your body produces a great deal of the hormone progesterone, and this can lead to several specific problems, like heartburn and constipation. Nearly 80 percent of all pregnant women also experience morning sickness, which manifests itself through nausea and vomiting, usually in the early part of the day. You might also experience a stomach ache during pregnancy that could be as mild as a very dull pain, or as sharp as severe abdominal cramping.

Some stomach discomfort during pregnancy is the result of massive hormonal changes in your body chemistry. Everything is different. The food you normally eat will no longer be digested in quite the same way. Morning sickness is common in the first trimester, but sometimes it lasts the entire pregnancy. Heartburn and constipation may be factors as well. Most of these conditions can be controlled or prevented through a few small changes in your diet and routine. Having a stomach ache during pregnancy is fairly normal, and fortunately it is a temporary situation.

Some other problems you may experience are swelling of the feet and ankles, extreme fatigue, and back pain. Some women complain of itchy skin as well. Some stomach discomfort during pregnancy occurs simply because the skin is stretching out so far to accommodate your growing baby. This can lead to some itchiness, which is easily remedied with a mild cream. Swelling can be managed by elevating the affected areas frequently and by drinking a lot of water. Try to schedule regular naps and get plenty of sleep at night. Back pain can be controlled to an extent, simply by never sitting or standing for too long.

Like most of the common discomforts, a stomach ache during pregnancy is to be expected at times. You can be sure your doctor will be familiar with all of these conditions and will be able to advise how to best treat them. Fatigue, swelling, back pain and stomach discomfort during pregnancy are extremely common and can usually be dealt with using a host of simple remedies.

Don’t be afraid to ask your doctor for advice, but be aware that other women who have already experienced pregnancy can be great sources of information as well. It’s almost a guarantee that all of them have experienced some form of stomach discomfort during pregnancy, along with at least a few of the other problems, and can probably give you some great advice.

Hi, my name is Bob Barton and I was in the same heartburn situation you are in years ago. In fact, I could NOT get more than a continuous 4 hours of sleep without my nighttime heartburn flaring up! Are you suffering from the same heartburn symptoms (caused by acid reflux) I had?

Nighttime Heartburn

Pain in stomach and chest regions

Acidic Taste in mouth and throat

Constant worrying about next reflux flare-up

Loss of sleep

And the list goes on! However, I want to bring you good news today! I am nighttime heartburn free and have permanently cured my heartburn naturally! And you can too!

Here is My Heartburn Story!

Over thirty years ago, I was in a hospital bed after a stomach surgery which almost took my life! I had stomach ulcers caused from acid reflux/heartburn and the doctors needed to operate. The next year was a living nightmare; I would vomit at least 3-4 times a day and on a good day only once! Acid Reflux was ruining my life until I found a nighttime remedy! One morning, I woke up at 7:00 AM and realized I did not wake up with nighttime heartburn the whole night. This was the first time in YEARS! After thinking back to the previous night, I wondered what I had done differently? The only thing I could think of was eating an apple before going to bed early. I wanted to test my remedy so I begun testing a slice of apple every night before I went to bed or before I had a heartburn flare-up. And guess what I found?

My Nighttime Heartburn Remedy

After weeks, I have found that simply a slice (I didn’t need the whole apple) of apple would allow me to sleep the whole night without any nighttime heartburn! I became a new man and life was better with 8 consistent hours of sleep! And this natural reflux remedy has even helped me discover more natural remedies that work for acid reflux.

Don’t just treat your Reflux! Cure Your Acid Reflux!

I did it and so can you! After sharing my acid reflux cure with my son, we decided that we should share our natural reflux story with others by making a website. Over two years later, we have spent hours upon hours reading and researching remedies that have proven to be effective for thousands of people. In fact, we have over 600 testimonials of people who have cured their Acid Reflux and have a 97% success rate with people who have tried our remedy and read our report! If you want more than an apple to treat your nighttime heartburn, please take a minute to check out my website which has literally helped thousands. Our satisfaction-guaranteed, 100%-refund offer will cure your heartburn! I put my word on it!

http://www.refluxremedy.com/apple/

Eating out may be hard because there are many ingredients used which you didn’t know and might cause a heartburn attack. So, to give you a rough idea, here are some of the food groups you should avoid when you are dining out in a restaurant.

- Cream soups

- High fat food

- Greasy and fried food

- High-fat sauces, salad dressings, gravies and mayo

- Spices like chili and onions

- Citrus fruits and drinks

- Tomato-based food and products, including soups and sauce

- High fat cheese

- Alcohol

- Caffeine

- Chocolate

- Desserts that are high in fat, oil or butter

- Sandwich melts

- Club sandwiches

- Dairy products such as sour cream, milk shake, ice cream and regular cottage cheese

On the other hand, here are some of the food groups you can eat which will not cause you heartburn.

- Food rich in complex carbohydrates like bread, cereal, graham crackers, pretzels

- Apples, either the pulp or the juice

- Banana

- Baked potato

- Green leafy vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, carrots

- Legumes and lentils like green beans and peas

- Meat low in fat like extra-lean ground beef and skinless chicken breast

- Egg whites

- Fish without added fat

- Low-fat dairy products

- Low-fat salad dressings and desserts

- White meat and lean cuts of meat

- Sandwiches with turkey, chicken, or roast beef on whole grain bread.

- Grilled or roasted meat

- Low-fat soups or broth

- Steamed vegetables

Aside from eating only the foods that are safe for your heartburn, you should also chew your food slowly. Eat in small amounts. Doing these will avoid any pressure on the stomach, which will avoid weakening of the lower esophagus muscle.

Don’t smoke after eating. Not only is it bad for you, but nicotine is one of the causes of heartburn.

Keep a heartburn food record to store the food and drinks you consumed for the day. This way, in case you had heartburn, you will determine which of them triggered your condition.

For more tips on how to get rid of heartburn, visit my blog.

Heartburn does not just affect those who are high stressed or love their spicy foods. Pregnant women suffer from heartburn too. You will find as your pregnancy progresses that antacids tend to become your best friend. Heartburn has nothing to do with your heart.

It is when the acid from your stomach leaks up into the esophagus. Heartburn is very common during pregnancy. In fact one in four women experience heartburn during their pregnancy usually during the third trimester. The reason is that your baby has grown a tremendous amount and your uterus has moved up and is now putting pressure on your stomach. This crowds the digestive tract and allows acids to travel back up the esophagus. There is an old wives tale that if you have bad heartburn, your baby will have a lot of hair. Of course there is no proof in this but it is a fun thing to believe in.

There are ways you can help prevent heartburn during pregnancy. You can start by taking your time while you eat. Not only will you enjoy your food better but your stomach will not have to work as hard to digest your food. You also want to try eating early and eat at least two hours before you go to bed that night so your body has plenty of time to digest your food.

Keep your meals small. Stick with eating six small meals through out the day. Large meals tend to stuff up your stomach which is already extra squashed thanks to your uterus. A stuffed stomach makes it that more likely that some of the food along with stomach acid will make its way back up the esophagus.

Also, make sure you keep your fluids and solids separate. Too much fluid mixed with too much food can distend the stomach which can aggravate heartburn. You also want to eat sitting up. Don’t eat while lying down, and if you are having a bed time snack make sure you are propped up by pillows.

Your weight plays a part in how much heartburn you may experience. The heavier you are, the more pressure you are placing on your esophageal sphincter. This is another reason why you should not gain to much more than the recommended amount.

Find out what foods cause your heartburn. Once you figure out what foods cause heartburn, you can cut them out of your diet. Some foods you might want to steer clear of are highly seasoned spicy foods, soda, tomatoes sauce, chocolate, and some citrus. Greasy foods are also a big contributor to heartburn. Cutting out greasy, fried food is going to help with your heartburn prevention.

When all else fails, take something for your heartburn. Tums and Rolaids are perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. If you are not comfortable taking any over the counter medicines try some natural ways such as eating a handful of almonds. Almonds are a stomach settler and might help with your heartburn. Another natural remedy is a tablespoon of honey mixed with milk is a favorite for preventing heartburn.

Like with some pregnancy discomforts, heartburn is one that can be avoided as long as you take the steps and eat properly. Even without suffering from a lot of heartburn, your baby still could be born with a full head of hair.

Many women experience heartburn for the first time while they are pregnant. It’s not uncommon, but it is uncomfortable. What should you know about coping with heartburn during pregnancy?

First, the reason that women who have never had problems with heartburn may experience it during pregancy is easy. One of the hormones produced by the placenta slows down the contractions in the esophagus and relaxes the muscles between the stomach and esophagus – meaning that stomach acids either escape into the esophagus or get pushed there by the crowding baby.

Although they probably won’t cure the problem completely, there are a few things you can do to minimize your discomfort.

Avoid those foods and habits that usually cause heartburn (even if they haven’t triggered it in you before). Alcohol (as if you need another reason to avoid it while you’re pregnant), caffeine, chocolate, citrus fruit, tomatoes, mustard, other acidic foods, spicy or fried foods, etc. Instead of eating big meals (eating for 2!) eat multiple small meals throughout the day. That way, foods have more time to digest slowly and stay down. Don’t gulp down your liquids during meals. It’s important to get enough water, but too many liquids while your stomach tries to digest will hinder the digestion process. Avoid eating too close to bedtime – give yourself 2-3 hours before you give gravity extra leverage for letting acid into your esophagus. Wear loose and comfortable clothing. Trying to fit into those jeans just a little longer will probably make your heartburn worse. Try taking otc acid reducers, but talk to your doctor about it so you make sure to avoid brands that might contain aspirin or be high in sodium. Chewable, calcium carbonate antacids are probably your best first bet.

Your doctor may have other suggestions about what you can do to reduce your heartburn during pregnancy. You have enough discomfort to worry about – find ways to make this part easier.

Heartburn is described as a burning feeling that stretches from the bottom of the breast bone up to the lower throat. It is commonly caused by overeating or the consumption of a food that does not agree with the body.

Heartburn is often a common condition among many pregnant women, caused by the hormonal and physical body changes. Heartburn among pregnant women usually begins somewhere during the first trimester and typically worsens during the second and third trimesters.

Just like acid reflux, heartburn during pregnancy is caused by stomach acids sneaking out of the stomach past the valve that is supposed to keep it there.

The stomach fluids rise up the esophagus causing pain and discomfort. Unlike acid reflux, the valve is not simply faulty; it has been relaxed by hormones produced due to the pregnancy. The particular hormone is called progesterone and it also relaxes the muscles of the uterus. During digestion your esophagus and intestines make wavelike contractions.

The progesterone slows those contractions, which results in sluggish digestion. Then later during the pregnancy, as the baby gets bigger, the abdominal cavity gets crowded and pushes the stomach acids back up into the esophagus. This condition usually continues until the baby is born.

Although there is nothing that can be done to cure the condition, it is possible to ease the symptoms. The following tips are good things to add to your lifestyle even beyond pregnancy because they promote good health and help prevent other non pregnancy related digestive issues.

Don’t eat late at night or close to bedtime.

Avoid greasy or spicy foods, as well as anything with chocolate, peppermint, tomato sauce, caffeine, carbonation, and citrus.

Wear loose clothes.

Eat smaller meals.

Don’t lay flat after eating. Three hours should pass before going to bed.

Elevate the head and upper body at bedtime.

Stay away from tobacco and alcohol.

Most of the time pregnant women can ease their symptoms through simple diet and lifestyle changes.

If something more is needed, heartburn medication with aluminum, calcium, or magnesium are usually safe and effective. Magnesium based antacids should be avoided during the last trimester of pregnancy due to its potential to interfere with uterine contractions during labor.

Antacids with sodium bicarbonate should be completely avoided because as it results in the potential of too much fluid in both the mother and the fetus. To be safe, however, a doctor should always be consulted before taking heart burn medicine or any other medication during pregnancy.

Does the combination of a particular heartburn diet and changes to a healthy lifestyle get you heartburn relief? Recent studies bring information to show that new diet plans can really lower heartburn and simultaneously make major improvements in quality of life in general. But the question remains, will a diet really bring permanent heartburn for you personally? Classical medicine has run foul of huge populations of heartburn victims in this respect, because of the potentially dangerous side effects that it produces as well as its poor record of results over a long duration.

Because heartburn is only a symptom of a more complicated medical condition known as GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) or acid reflux, we need to know if new diet plans will act on the true, underlying causes. It is important to know that recurring heartburn cannot be dispatched in a permanent way without a full holistic treatment that clearly identifies the root causes.

A circular muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is a key part of the syndrome of heartburn. When acid escaping via the LES corrodes the cells lining the esophagus, this causes the unpleasant burning sensation known as acid indigestion or heartburn. GERD is the result of this valve-like muscle between the stomach and the esophagus weakening and no longer keeping the stomach contents away from the esophagus.

New diet habits must bring down this excess of stomach acidity, but must also take account of a malfunctioning sphincter. Therefore new diet habits must simultaneously work with both aspects of acid reflux. We describe seven simple axes for diets below as initial actions to get to a holistic, all-natural treatment for GERD:

1. Reduce the quantity of each meal. The bigger the meal, the more the stress on the digestive system, the more the level of stomach acidity and the greater the risk of compounding an existing acid reflux condition. 5-6 smaller meals per day is better than 2-3 big meals.

2. Allow your stomach to get its work done 2-3 hours for a light meal, rather than the 5-6 hours for a big one. This is especially important at the end of the day, so as to finish digestion and avoid lying down when acid can still reflux towards your esophagus. Therefore, eat a light meal for the last one of the day, before helping digestion by going for a short walk.

3. Chew and eat your food in a leisurely way. This prevents air from being ingested at the same time as the food, and avoids pressure in the stomach and bloating which all put extra pressure on the esophageal sphincter, with the resulting splash back of stomach acid.

4. Lessen coffee intake and drink herbal tea instead, as well as reducing intake of peppermint, soda and alcohol, high-fat or spicy meals, citrus juices, coffee and caffeine, chocolate and foods based largely on tomatoes. Don’t eat food that irritates your intestines, because this in turn can cause your esophageal sphincter to open at the wrong time.

5. Studies done in Sweden support the theory that acid reflux danger can be reduced by 50% by adopting a high fiber diet and that high-fiber diets are effective for optimizing digestion and sweeping away toxic matter.

6. Dairy produce, especially milk, should be cut down. It causes for more acid, mucus and allergies, all conditions that stimulate Candida overgrowth and bring on further digestive problems contributing to GERD.

7.

Lovers of spicy food and overly stressed people tend to be attached by heartburn more frequently then others. But there is another group that joins these folks with high tendencies, the expecting moms. Suddenly, antacid becomes the most beautiful thing that was created by medicine.

Contrary to the name, heartburn pain is not because of the heart. This is caused by acids in the stomach making its way to the esophagus. This condition is usual to all pregnancies. The third trimester tends to suffer the most heartburns. The baby’s growing size may be the reason behind it. Everything inside the mother’s body is changing, even the positions of her organs are shifting from on side to the other. Especially the uterus, it is now pushing the stomach placing a lot of pressure on it. Traffic jammed digestive tracks results to acids in the stomach to overflow to the esophagus. There’s an old saying that goes the nastier the heartburn of the mother the more hair growth of the child. Belief are not always true but they do crack good jokes.

For those moms that are going through a vicious case of heart bur there is a solution for you. Eat slowly. The stomach will be less in a hurry to digest the food. Also, grinding the food more intensely will result to less production of digestive acids in the tummy. Making it more friendly to you.

Small portions of food intake will also leave you feeling better. Six small meals or snacking between major meals are the best way to have it. Over easting will fill up the stomach that’s already out of room because of the baby’s increasing size. On the one hand, never skip a meal. Before bedtime at night eat a snack or two to keep the stomach from rumbling during sleep. If you don’t, then a heartburn surprise is the first thing you’ll have in the morning. Don’t eat too close to the hour of sleeping. Let digestion work properly before going into slumber. Two to three hours is the recommended time to chow down your mid-night snack. This will give it ample time to dissolve the food in time for bed.

Having plenty of liquids is a good thing. But, when with child keep the fluids that you take in from messing with solid foods. Bloating intensifies heartburn. Sitting up and never lying down while eating tends to result to nonviolence in your tummy.

Being heavier than your usual self it contributes a lot with the intensity of experiencing heartburn. The spices and other acidic foods are best be kept where a pregnant lady is. Categorizing your food intake can minimize, even eliminate the frequency of heartburn. Chocolates are tempting but will have an awful effect on you. Oily or greasy pizza or fried foods are also a no no. If the craving is there, then try clearing the oily part. That way it will not be as bad as it already is.

Tums and Rolaids are some names that are pregnant friendly antacids. Being too careful doesn’t hurt either, so if you’re not agreeable to the idea of swallowing a pill to relieve your pain then try herbal method. Mostly almonds come highly recommended. They can help ease the pain. Almonds aid to settle the stomach. Honey can also make for good remedy. All it takes is a tablespoon in your milk and you’re ready to take on the world.
